A contemporary practice rooted in intaglio printmaking and the unstable architecture of identity.
Darya Hancharova was born in 1995 in Minsk, Belarus, and lives and works in Poland. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice in 2019 with distinction, completing her principal diploma in intaglio printmaking and an additional diploma in painting.
Her practice centers on mezzotint while also extending into painting and book illustration. The recurring subject is the human being understood as a layered structure—formed by relationships, experience, memory and the tension between interior and exterior worlds.
Not the face as identity,
but identity as movement.
A mosaic rather than a single, stable image.
Psychological space rendered through tonal depth.
Forms overlap, fracture and reform without becoming merely abstract.
